Insurance regulators in several states are putting time and resources into encouraging more carriers to get into the business of insuring cannabis. A lack of carriers has forced cannabis businesses to often end up paying more for policies, and in some cases go without sufficient coverage. We spoke to insurance and legal matter expert Phil Skaggs of AAIS and Colorado’s chief deputy insurance commissioner, Peg Brown, to find out what regulators in a handful of states are doing to encourage more market participation.
