It was a busy legislative session for the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, with multiple bills focused on different property and casualty segments. One of OIR’s top priorities, property insurance reform, made it across the finish line though many in the industry are split on if what was passed will go far enough in helping the state’s struggling homeowners insurance market. Insurance Commissioner David Altmaier discusses what provisions of the bill he thinks will have the biggest impact on the market, as well as other legislation that passed affecting insurers, in this interview with Insurance Journal.
