Dick Poppa heads the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York, one of the most respected Big "I" affiliates. It was a pleasure to spend 20 minutes getting his take on the issues and opportunities for the Independent Agency System. Industry associations--just like their member agents and brokers--must adjust to competition from new sources, find new ways to attract and keep good employees, and adjust to operating in a challenging economic climate. Dick also provided an informative update on the Producer Compensation Law recently passed in New York, which the entire industry is watching carefully.
