Barbara Bufkin, chair of the international board of governors at the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) and executive head of business development in the Commercial Lines division at Assurant, recently spoke with Insurance Journal's Elizabeth Blosfield about diversity and inclusion in the insurance industry.
She discussed various ways the industry has successfully incorporated diversity into its workforce, where she sees areas of improvement and how inclusion helps with attracting and retaining talent. She also discussed the unique perspective women can bring to leadership roles within the insurance industry ahead of IICF's Women In Insurance Conference Series, which begins with a one-day regional forum in New York on June 7 and will hold additional one-day regional forums in Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles.
