Golden Bear Insurance Co. last year became the first admitted carrier in California to offer coverage for cannabis businesses, and recently the insurer began offering insurance products to testing labs to cover things like negligent acts, and errors or omissions in the testing process. Roxanne Westfall, vice president and professional lines department manager for Golden Bear, was attending the Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS) conference in San Diego, Calif., in early November when she agreed to talk to Insurance Journal about the budding business of covering marijuana testing labs.
