When Pranav Pasricha, Global Head P&C Solutions for Swiss Re, visits the reinsurer’s teams in Zurich, he gets the sense that the company has hired just about “every class, every year of all the PhDs in remote sensing” coming out of UZH, one of the top universities in the world. But human capital isn’t the only ingredient carriers and reinsurers need to successfully apply information from satellite technology, or Geospatial Information Systems broadly, to change business models in all parts of the insurance industry value chain. It starts with a mindset and with investments in industry partnerships.

Bessie Schwarz, CEO of Cloud to Street, and Giacomo Favaron, a pricing specialist for AXA XL, weighed in with similar views during Carrier Management’s recent roundtable event, “Seeing Through the Clouds: Satellites in Insurance.”
