InsurPac, the political action committee for the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America, surpassed $1 million in 2013. It contributed more than $1.8 million to various candidates in the last political cycle. However, the world of political campaign giving is changing due in part to two Supreme Court decision, one in Citizens United a few years ago and another this past term in the McCutcheon decision. Here, Charles Symington, senior vice president for government and external affairs for the Big "I" who oversees InsurPac, discusses how the new landscape for political giving may affect the politics of independent agents.
