Jason Cass, chair of the Independent Agents & Brokers of America's Young Agents Committee, and owner of the JDC Insurance Group based in Centralia, Ill., and Brian Appleton, an independent agent based in Des Moines, Iowa, have a story to tell. These two young agents have recently launched a new website and series of podcast interviews to talk about issues important to the independent agency system. They hope to advance the insurance industry and the independent agency channel by doing so.
Both Cass and Appleton took some time to speak with Insurance Journal about a recent topic of discussion on their website www.AgentsInfluence.com. In this interview Cass and Appleton discuss the independent agency channel's pay structure, why they believe it may be time to make a change, and why the industry's compensation models may not be appealing to the younger generation.
