John Nelson became Lloyd's Chairman in October 2011. Even before he took over he's had a plan to prepare Lloyd's for the 21st century. Nelson comes from outside the insurance industry, as did his predecessor Lord Levene. A career banker, he's committed to globalizing the Lloyd's market along the lines that the UK's banking sector accomplished in the 80's and 90's, which he describes as a "blueprint" for expanding Lloyd's and preparing it for the future.
