In less than six years, Stephen Sills, founder of Darwin Professional Underwriters Inc., built a specialty insurance company, with a focus on health care and professional liability coverages, into a $300 million a year business before selling to Allied World Assurance Co. in late 2008. In this interview from the recent PLUS Annual International Conference in San Francisco, the now retired Sills says Darwin's success stems from targeting what he calls "loose bricks" in the marketplace.
