Florida State Senator Jeff Brandes has been on a mission to help Florida homeowners dealing with high flood insurance rates. Already responsible for one state law designed to encourage private market flood insurance competition in the state, Brandes has introduced another bill for the upcoming 2016 legislative session. He also organized the first-ever Florida Flood Insurance Conference in early December. In this podcast with Insurance Journal, Brandes discusses why he has spearheaded the flood insurance fairness efforts in the state and what he hopes for the future of the private flood insurance market in Florida.
