The National Association of Professional Surplus Lines Offices (NAPSLO) celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2014 with a record number of attendees at its annual meeting in late September. Brady Kelley, executive director of NAPSLO, says it's been a great year for surplus lines professionals. Premiums continue to rise and surplus lines carriers remain strong. As the year comes to a close, Kelley says surplus lines professionals remain optimistic about what's to come in 2015. In this interview with Insurance Journal's Andrea Wells, Kelley talks about a few legislative issues that could impact surplus lines -- including a continued focus on the Non-Admitted Reinsurance Reform Act (NRRA), the Terrorism Risk Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2014 and the National Association of Registered Agents and Brokers, or NARAB II -- and a few things the association is doing to attract the next generation of NAPSLO members.
