The U.S. Senate Committee on Banking Subcommittee on Housing, Transportation, and Community Development held a hearing July 30 to examine the flood insurance claims process following Superstorm Sandy. Among those who testified was Don Griffin, personal lines vice president for the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America and chair of the "Write-Your-Own" (WYO) Flood Insurance Coalition, which includes primary insurer trade associations and WYOs. Griffin recently spoke with Insurance Journal to discuss the hearing, the lessons learned from Sandy and potential areas of reform.
