More than 1,000 independent agent members of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America from across the country traveled to Washington D.C. in mid-April to meet with their elected representatives on Capitol Hill. Among the issues they discussed were the National Association of Registered Agents and Brokers (NARAB) bill to streamline producer licensing, renewal of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA), and tax reform. Here, Charles Symington, senior vice president for government and external affairs for the Big "I", discusses the strategies and prospects for these bills. Last year, NARAB was attached to a flood reform bill for awhile before being dropped. Will a similar strategy be tried again?
