BrandIndex helps companies get a read on what customers think not only of their own brand but also the brands of their competitors. In fact it follows about 1,300 brands across 45 industries. It works by capturing demographic, attitudinal and behavioral information from daily interviews with about 100 people a day. The process measures not only the effects of advertising but also the effects of news and word-of-mouth. In this interview with Wells Media's Andy Simpson, BrandIndex Senior Vice President Ted Marzilli updates listeners on his company's service, identifies some of the insurance brands with the most "buzz," discusses how Esurance is taking on Geico, and offers some marketing advice for smaller companies.
