Health Benefits Boom and Obamacare

Shawn Pynes, principal with San Diego, Calif.-based insurance agency Barney & Barney, views the changing health benefits landscape in California and beyond as an opportunity for growth. Roughly half of Barney & Barney’s business focuses on health benefits, and Pynes estimates conservatively that Barney & Barney will see 10 percent growth per year in this area. Pynes spoke with Insurance Journal about the impact of the U.S. Supreme Court upholding the Affordable Care Act and what his agency has done to be prepared for the anticipated growth in benefits.
