Health/Benefits Sector Offers Potential Growth for P/C Agents
Despite the uncertainty over the changes occurring in healthcare delivery and insurance systems in the United States, many property/casualty insurance agents may be thinking about rounding out their agency’s book via this expanded line of offerings. In Texas, at least, that’s where Misty Baker comes in.
An independent life and health agent with 12 years of experience under her belt, Baker now heads up the life and health insurance services division at the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas (IIAT). One of the main duties of her job — and there are many of them — is to provide information to IIAT agency members on how to best take advantage of the changing landscape in the life/health/benefits sector.
Baker believes there’s tremendous potential for growth in this area. She recently shared her view of changes in the health and benefits business as they relate to independent agents and how successful agents are dealing with them.
