Window on Washington: Insurance Politics

Part 1 with AIA’s Leigh Ann Pusey

Insurance company lobbyists were busy in Washington and around the country throughout 2005. Among them was Leigh Ann Pusey, senior vice president for government affairs for the American Insurance Association, representing property casualty insurers.

In this first in a two-part interview with Insurance Journal’s Andy Simpson from her AIA Washington, D.C. office, Pusey talks about why renewal of terrorism reinsurance was such a difficult road, how Congress and the industry responded to the mood set by Spitzer’s investigations, and the prospects for asbestos and medical tort reform.

Tune in to Part 2 with AIA’s Leigh Ann Pusey.
