Dan Gerber, law firm Goldberg & Segalla's cyber practice managing partner, sees progress in identifying risks and mitigating them. He doesn't, however, see an end to the threats hackers pose for companies and insurers, as the risks evolve so quickly that it's no longer possible to "ring fence" your data. Hackers will eventually get through any firewall, and, as each data set is different, constructing the necessary technological and legal defenses is a full time job.
