Cautious optimism and concern. Erie Insurance President and CEO Terrence Cavanaugh said he heard plenty of both sentiments at the recent PCI Annual Meeting in Scottsdale, A.Z. The annual meeting brought together legions of property/casualty insurers and reinsurers as they proceeded with negotiations for next year's contracts. While attendees were all hopeful for a good 2014, concern remains, he said, about everything from the flood of new capital into the reinsurance industry, to the economy that hasn't yet picked up major steam.
